A PAIR OF FLINTLOCK PISTOLS with swamped barrels, foliate engraved tangs, signed border engraved rounded locks (one cock incomplete, one action defective), moulded figured walnut full stocks (one a working replacement, both fore-ends split) each carved with a shell in relief behind the barrel tang, engraved iron trigger-guards, silver side-plates and escutcheons, each cast and chased with rococo decoration (one side-plate incomplete), and silver ramrod-pipes and grotesque mask butt-caps (ramrods missing, iron parts with light pitting), by Benjamin Griffin, Bond Street, London, London proof marks and Foreigner's, circa 1745
