A MASSIVE CLOISONNE ENAMEL BASIN with slightly flaring sides, decorated on the exterior with a herd of deer and a flock of crane in a continuous mountainous riverscape with a waterfall, flowering and leafy trees and grassy river banks, the deer variously recumbent and standing grazing, drinking and wading through the river, the crane mostly in flight, some perched on rockwork, the interior with exotic fish, crustacea, water insects, toads and eels swimming amongst plant life, all on a turquoise ground (minor old damage), late 18th Century 64cm. diam., wood stand

Cf. the only other published example of these splendid large fishbowls, now in the Uldry Collection, illustrated in the Catalogue, no.322 (three views), where it is suggested that the bowl should be dated to the second half of the 18th Century
