AN ITALIAN MAIOLICA OVIFORM JAR in the 16th century style, probably made in the Pesaro workshop of Ferrucio Mengarone, one side painted with the portrait of a bearded man within a circular medallion, the reverse with a Coat-of-Arms flanked by the initials .W. .W. V. .S. and the date M.C.XLI and a W below, enclosed by green bands entwined with foliage on a Bianco-sopra-bianco gound of anthemion, scrolls and foliage (slight rim chips and glaze flaking), late 19th century
