A RENAISSANCE DATED SIGNET RING

The rock-crystal bezel engraved with the arms of von Möllmdorf, with initials A V M and date 1597, traces of gilt and some colour below to indicate the tinctures, plain gold hoop, finger size T, and a navette-shaped ring with silhouette of Reima-Friedrich von Möllmdorf in profile to the left, the bright-cut engraved mount with concave back, circa 1758, finger size O

Provenance: The signet ring was excavated by an employee in the grounds of Möllmdorf Castle in 1759. For the arms of Möllmdorf (Möllendorf) of Silesia see J.B. Rietstap, Armorial Général, p.239). The silhouette ring was the engagement ring of Reima-Friedrich von Möllmdorf and Fraülein Dorothea Henriette von Rünstedt who married 11 October, 1758 (2)
