A FINE ALABASTER COSMETIC CONTAINER, the heavy horizontally veined vessel with five cylindrical cosmetic phials, the central one with remains of kohl, a sixth cylinder has a shallow hollow to take the pivot for the swivel lid (now missing), on the opposing side is a tapering groove in the exterior wall still containing a length of the horn kohl applicator, mounted on an integral square base with four tapering square corner feet, Dynasty XIX, circa 1300 B.C.

Said to be from the Tomb of Ramesses I; with the vessel comes an extract from a sale catalogue of "an important collection of Egyptian Antiquities" belonging to "an eminent Egyptologist" which reads:
"Kohl or Stibium Pot, Aragonite, found in the tomb of Ramses I. (first King of the 19th dynasty, circa 1310 B.C.), at Biban el Muluk, Thebes; ... 25 guineas"
