Lot Essay
This spoon, with characteristic drop between the bowl and handle, belongs to one of the latest types of Roman cochlearia spoon. They are larger than preceding types and their bowls less rounded. Many, also, have leaf designs underneath as, for example, in the Kerynia treasure in the British Museum. Also, cf.
