Presley's first single on the Sun label That's All Right (Mama)/Blue Moon Of Kentucky was recorded in early July, 1954. On 10th July, Sam Phillips, feeling he had come across something important, took acetates of both recordings to the Red, Hot And Blue show at WHBQ radio. After That's All Right had been aired by his brother, DJ Dewey Phillips, the switchboard was apparently jammed with callers requesting the song to be played again, and a week later, Sun had received 7000 advance orders. The single was finally released on 19th July, 1954.
