This pair of shoes were donated by Pete Townshend to a charity auction held at the Richmond Hill Hotel in 1986. The vendor, as the successful bidder, spoke to Townshend after the event, he told her he had accidentally electrocuted himself on stage during a concert and in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, his heart had stopped several times, hence the statement in the accompanying note.
