Small 4o (183 x 124 mm). 19th-century calf, Earl of Bridgewater crest on sides; quarter morocco folding case. Provenance: Bridgewater Library (binding and bookplate) -- Louis Silver, sold in the sale of Newberry Library duplicates from the Silver accession, Sotheby's London, 8 November 1965, lot 118 -- purchased from John F. Fleming, New York, 20 January 1969.
FIRST EDITION of "one of the latest, if not the last of Fletcher's plays... It is also one of his best unaided productions" (Pforzheimer). The title from the fourth line onwards (except the ornament) is printed from the same setting of type as in the Rollo edition published the same year (see lot 216).
