FIRST EDITION, Todd's state 1a, 2b of pp. 179-180. Todd assumes a rather small edition, "possibly like the Vindication limited to 500 copies." Originally written when Burke was only nineteen, it was published 9 years later and immediately became a work of great importance in the field of aesthetics. Todd 5a.
