II (¼ in. trimmed away at bottom of last leaf), errata slip tipped in at beginning of each volume. Original green quarter cloth and boards, printed paper label on spines, uncut (minor rubbing and staining to boards); cloth chemise and half morocco slipcase. Provenance: purchased from Scribner Rare Books, New York, 13 November 1968.

FIRST EDITION. "This work was written by Landor during his residence at Fiesole, but it was published after his return to England... The work appeared during the early part of 1836, and though it was received with much praise by his friends, and had many favorable reviews, the sale dragged" (Grolier English 77). Tinker 1478. (2)
