The landmark in the history of the Riley was the famous Nine introduced in 1929. Its engine was the classic twin high camshaft with hemispherical combustion chambers, a design that characterised Riley engines for the next thirty years. This engine was much later developed in six cylinder form which contributed much to the success of ERA racing engines, and therefore British prestige. Riley themselves also achieved sporting success and throughout the thirties was a sporting name to be reckoned with.

This six cylinder, 1,726cc version of the Kestrel has been laid up since 1967 and is an ideal restoration project. The vehicle is said to be complete (some of the trim was removed and boxed prior to restoration) and in fact is being sold with many spare parts. The car was repainted some years ago but this is now in poor condition and the chromework is showing its age. The interior is described as original and restorable. These are particularly elegant cars with their fastback design.
