1961 AUSTIN A40 TWO DOOR SALOON
Registration No. MFF 642
Chassis No. A/A256157637
Engine No. 159069
Grey with black roof and blue leatherette interior
Right hand drive
Launched in the summer of 1958, the Austin A40 was designed as a compromise between the saloon car and the station wagon, since BMC believed that estate car styling "was not to everyone's taste". Using the main mechanical components of the well-proven A35, the A40 was styled by Pininfarina. The two-door body had a 'half-hatch' below the near vertical rear window giving very good luggage space.
This particular car has driven less than 40,000 miles and is in good condition throughout. It has had three owners since new. We understand from the present owner that the clutch may need some attention.
