In the 1930s Delahaye emerged from being a manufacturer of quite ordinary, reliable medium capacity cars into the realm of the Grand Routier class, so beloved by French High Society. The most famous chassis of all was the 135 which proved extremely successful on the race track. Its engine was a straight six, overhead valve design of 3.5 litre capacity which remained in production until 1954.
This 148L model using the same engine design has the popular four speed Cotal electro-magnetic gearbox. The car is best described as in original condition throughout and in running order, the engine having been rebuilt. It is hoped that by the time of the auction a new wiring loom will be fitted. The car is fitted with twin flag poles on the front wings which suggests that this vehicle has been used or owned by some dignatory in the past.
