A changing market hastened the replacement of the XK140 which debuted in mid-1957 as the final variation on the original XK120 theme. The 150 was Jaguar's response to recently introduced rivals like the BMW 507 and Mercedes-Benz 300SL which offered similar performance, but with more comfort and refinement to satisfy the growing American demand.

The 150 was therefore more civilised than any previous XK with a restyled bodyshell, recontoured beltline, wider grille and a curved one piece windscreen. The extra weight was compensated for by servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes replacing the old drums.

This attractive drophead coupe spent most of its life in America and was originally in left hand drive configuration. The engine has recently been checked over by S & P Auto Services of Devon and there are now new timing chains and gears. The car drives well and has an MoT which expires in May 1995. It was repainted by TT Workshops and is in reasonably clean condition. The jack is missing, but there is a knock off hammer.
