In 1968 Jaguar's design exercises over the previous fifteen years culminated in the new XJ saloon. The unitary frame was redesigned to give it three "boxes" for enhanced rigidity. The suspension was improved and power steering was made standard equipment on the 4.2-litre units. Girling servo-assisted brakes and rack-and-pinion steeing improved the handling of the XJ. The significant choice given to the buyer was the option of a 2.8-litre version of the famous six cylinder car.

This 2.8-litre car has been in storage for the last five years, but it was recently serviced and passed an MoT. It is in very clean overall condition and has a stainless steel exhaust.
