A RARE GOLD AND ENAMEL AUTOMATON POCKET WATCH
Swiss, 1790's.
white enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic quarters, pierced gold hands, eccentric winding hole, frosted gilt movement, the reverse enamelled with a landscape with a windmill and overlaid with multi-coloured chased gold figures of a swan and cherub in a fountain and a gentleman on horseback and two dogs on a grassy bank, the fountain with two rotating glass rods, the windmill sails and horses head also automaton, polished gold bezel around the automaton scene inscribed Hommage au General Bonaparte Comd. en Chef L'Armee d'Italie, Geneve 20 Novembre 1797, case decorated with blue and white enamel with gold details, diameter 56mm.
