A Very Rare Cased 13-bore Moser's Patent Muzzle-Loading Needle-Fire Sporting Gun
Circa 1832
With browned twist barrel inscribed 'A. Moser's Patent' in the short sighting groove at the breech, and with silver fore-sight, enclosed case-hardened action engraved with scrollwork on a matted ground and with sighting groove finely engraved with a coursing scene and also inscribed 'A. Moser's Patent', varnished figured walnut half-stock (minor bruising at barrel-bolt), chequered grip, blued iron mounts finely engraved with scrollwork and sporting scenes, large double trigger-guard enclosing the blued cocking lever and the blued trigger, original ramrod with white-metal tip, and nearly all its original finish: in earlier lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including Barlow patent flask, and spare ramrod, London proof marks

Abraham Adolphe Moser, engineer, of 2 Canterbury Row, Kennington, was granted Patent No. 6196 for needle guns on 15 December 1831
Although the case dates from circa 1790, the gun has been professionally fitted to it during its working life
