With swamped octagonal sighted barrel cut with nine grooves and with a single band of engraved foliate decoration at the muzzle and a double band at the breech, the back-sight with chiselled finial, plain tang engraved with the number '4', signed border engraved rounded lock with moulded border and chiselled cock and steel, moulded figured walnut full stock (bruised in front of the trigger-guard) carved in relief behind the barrel tang and rear ramrod-pipe, and at the front of the cheek-piece, shaped iron mounts including butt-plate with long tang, pierced and chiselled side-plate involving a monster-head, patch-box on the underside of the butt, set trigger, and later horn-tipped ramrod (sling mounts removed)
