A Rare 18-Bore French Flintlock Turn-Over Sporting Gun

With two-stage sighted barrels released by upward pressure on the trigger-guard and each with gilt signature on the octagonal breech, and gilt scrollwork on the breech and around the fore-sight (one fore-sight replaced), engraved tang secured by two screws, flat border engraved bevelled back-action lock signed in script and with stepped tail engraved with a lion slaying a heron (steel protecting loop missing), moulded figured walnut full stock (minor bruising) carved in relief with strapwork and foliage at the barrel tang and on each side of the fore-stock, leather-covered cheek-pad, finely chiselled iron mounts engraved with trophies of the chase, engraved iron ramrod-pipes, iron sling mounts, and later horn-tipped ramrod (some wear, discolouration, and light pitting)
