A Fine Pair Of 32-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistols
By John Twigg, London, London silver hallmarks for 1774
With swamped twist octagonal sighted barrels retaining traces of browned finish (minor rust staining), engraved with a band of beadwork at the rear of the breech and with second form of signature on the top flat, gold-lined touch-holes, tangs finely engraved with foliage on a matted ground, case-hardened detented locks each retained by two side-nails and with moulded border, second form of signature, stepped tail, and two rollers working on a blued divided steel-spring, the steels each with pan safety-cover released by a stud (top of one cock expertly replaced), finely figured walnut full stocks (minor bruising) each finely carved in relief with a shell behind the barrel tang, flat-sided butts, engraved silver trigger-guards each with second pattern acorn finial, silver ramrod-pipes, blued trigger-plates, blued set triggers, and original horn-tipped bone ramrods, London proof marks, silver maker's mark of John King
