Rectangular gilt-metal box with plain baluster sides and scrolling Rocaille thumbpiece, the lid inset with an enamel plaque, the convex outside finely painted in purple camaïeu with an antique-style scene of the preparation of a feast after a successful stag hunt, the concave inside of the enamel plaque painted in colours with a full-length portrait of Elector Frederick Augustus III of Saxony as King Augustus III of Poland, in full regalia in Polish costume (after Louis de Sylvestre), standing on a palace terrace with landscape and architectural background
