Lot Essay

Gustaf Axel Schmiterlöw (Gullaskruv/Hälleberga 1795-1855 Gamleby), eldest son of county governor Henning Christian Schmiterlöw and his wife Baroness Anna Maria Palbitzki, studied in Abo in 1810 and later in Uppsala. He was second lieutenant in 1813 and took part in the campaign against Norway in 1814. He became lieutenant in 1819, chamberlain in 1823 and retired from military service in 1824. In 1823 he married Louisa Magdalena Sofia Geijer with whom he had five daughters and a son.
