White Deerskin Dance was painted circa 1893 and depicts the Natinixwe or Hupa Indians that live along the Trinity River in the Hoopa Valley of Northern Caifornia. The White Deerskin Dance was part of the tribe's World Renewal Ceremony, often lasting for 10 days or more, and was performed to prevent natural disasters such as crop or salmon run failures.

A copy of a letter of authentication from The Buffalo Bill Memorial Association of Cody, WY accompanies the lot.
