Dance Rehersal is a dynamic example of Don Freeman's well known depictions of theatrical performances. In Dance Rehersal, the cast prepares for their performance of Ballyhoo which opened in September 1932 at the 14th Street Theatre in New York and ran for 95 performances. The cast included Willie Howard, Eugene Howard and Bob Hope and the play was written by Norman Anthony. The musical was scored by E. Gensler and lyrics were written by E.Y. Harburg.
