Lot Essay

Cf. B. Tietzel, Fayence I, Kunstgewerbemuseum Köln (Köln 1980), p.140 ill.33 for a similar dish marked for De Witte Starre.

Dammas Hofwyck was director of De Roos as well as De Witte Starre. These dishes belong to a group of Frytom-related landscape objects. Their compositions were often inspired by engravings by Lucas van Leyden and Goltzius.
