Lot Essay

Cf. L. & Y. Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures (London 1987), p.78 for a similar group from a series of four.
The authors designate this group with the name attribution "Diana and Alexander"

The love between Mars and Venus can be seen as an allegory of Beauty and Valour, or the conquest of Strife by Love.
