A Meissen two-handled pierced basket on a figural pedestal foot
Second half 18th century
Gilt and painted in colours, the shaped oval basket moulded with rocaille pierced decoration and Gotzkowsky erhabene Blumen in relief, further painted with sprays of Deutsche Blumen, with flowering branch handles, the pedestal foot moulded as a palm tree flanked by a blackamoor wearing a yellow-lined flower-enhanced lilac garment and a turban, a large monkey holding an apple beside him, on rockwork base applied with flowering branches (the basket restored, the base with minute chips)
