A large Meissen twelve-light chandelier
Late 19th century, the figures marked with blue crossed swords
The octagonal balustroid middle section gilt and painted in colours with sprays of Deutsche Blumen, moulded with rocaille scrolls and pierced sections in the second rococo revival style, above a large pendant naturalistically modelled with various flowers, the lower part with eight large scrolling branches applied with flowers and perched birds ending in a large nozzle, with flower-encrusted pendentif elements en suite, the upper part with four smaller branches en suite ending in a large nozzle, with flower-encrusted pendentif elements en suite, alternating four rocaille scroll branches with flower-encrusted pendentif elements, the top with four smaller rocaille scrolls en suite with small baluster pierced pendentif elements moulded with rocaille scrolls and flowers, the middle part of the stem with four seated scantily clad classical musical maiden, one holding a music book, one with a large trumpet, one playing the lute and one the flute
