A GEORGE III MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE-BOOKCASE

In two sections, the molded cornice overhanging a Greek-key and blind fretwork frieze, the pair of glazed doors enclosing a cream satin-lined interior with three movable shelves above a range of twelve pigeonholes with pierced tracery spandrels and four short drawers, the outset base with a fall-front secretaire drawer fronted as two short flanking two long simulated drawer fronts, opening to a central shaped panelled door flanked by blind-fretwork pilasters, a long drawer above three short drawers and flanking pigeonholes with tooled brown leather inset, the kneehole flanked to either side by three cockbeaded drawers on a stepped plinth base, with brass bail pulls, electrified, three drawers inscribed in with black ink R.1, R.2 and R.3 respectively, one later hinge stamped H.TIBATS, kneehole formerly with further shelf
