Each painted in white slip after designs by Louis Solon depicting a putto tied to a kite with long curving tails, the short gilt neck, sides and splayed feet enriched with black anthemion and tracery

Lot Essay

Henry Saunders was apprenticed to Louis Solon at Mintons and is recorded at Moore Brothers in 1877. See anon. sale, Christie's East, New York, 31 October 2000, lot 256 for a similar Mintons salmon-ground pair by Louis Solon, the inspiration for the present lot.
