The rectangular verde antico marble top above a frieze applied with berried laurel banding and paterae, on rectangular supports with volutes joined by a rectangular stretcher centred by a classical urn flanked by sphinxes, with four ormolu caryatid supports

Lot Essay

The present table follows the design of a console double face supplied by Jacob-Desmalter for the apartment of Caroline Murat at the l'Elysee Palace in 1808, now at the Grand Trianon and illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebénistes du XIXème Siècle, 2nd ed., p.271.

Another example of this model table was sold in these rooms, 24 April 2001, lot 246 ($30,550).
