Modern brown morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, spine gilt in six sections with raised bands, titled in one, the others with stamped ownership monogram S&GBE, g.e. Provenance: S. & G.B.E. (binding). The work celebrates the heroic feats of the Emperor Maximilian (represented in the poems as Theuerdanck) in overcoming the difficulties of his journey to win his bride. The poem was largely written by the Emperor and edited by Pfintzing. The printer Schönsperger was brought to Nuremburg specifically to work on this first edition.
