Two parts in one volume, text in Greek and Latin, half-title, two engraved titles, engraved portrait of Mercator, 46 double-page engraved maps of the ancient world by Bertius after Mercator and Ortelius. (Some quires stained and browned, the verso of the dedication leaf without the portrait of Bertius.) Contemporary red morocco, panelled in gilt, gilt cornerpieces, spine flat in six sections with rose tools, g.e. (lower cover stained, corners rubbed, spine cracked at foot).

Bertius's work on ancient geography comprises 28 Ptolemaic maps taken from Gerard Mercator's Geographia of 1578 (republished 1584 and 1605), the second part containing 4 sheets of Ortelius's engraving of the Peutinger table and 14 maps from the Parergon. Although the colophon states that the work was printed in Leiden, the title page of the second part has the Amsterdam imprint of Jodocus Hondius, dated 1619.
