Engraved general map, map of North America on four sheets and two sheets of views and plans (map sheets 600 x 525mm), the maps and plans hand-coloured in outline, all divided and mounted on cloth, folding. Contained in contemporary calf-backed slipcase (lightly rubbed).
An early reissue of the famous Popple map reduced from the original. The sheets were separately published by Covens and Mortier, and in this case were mounted and folded in a slipcase. They were also issued in De l'Isle's Atlas Nouveau of 1741. The four views comprise Mexico City, Niagara, New York and Quebec, the sheet of harbour and island plans includes 19 insets.
