Engraved title with view of Port Jackson (lightly spotted), dedication, advertisement, list of subscribers, list of plates, publisher's advertisement (4pp.), 65 hand-coloured engraved plates after S. Stone, E. Kennion and F. P. Nodder. (Lacking one preliminary leaf, possibly an advertisement, occasional very light finger soiling.) Later half calf, spine gilt in sic compartments, with dark-blue morocco lettering-piece. Provenance: Dr. S. G. Pückler-Limpurg (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION, SPECIAL ISSUE WITH THE COLOURED PLATES, the list of plates with the second plate correctly paginated. The text leaf with the description of the Wattled Bee-Eater is the second issue, with a short description of the female of the species: as with one of the National Library of Australia copies, cited by Ferguson, the stub of the cancelled leaf is visble.
