DOUGLAS, NORMAN. Corrected page proofs of Old Calabria (London: Martin Secker, 1915). 322 pages, 8vo, on cheap proofing paper, a few marginal tears repaired, bound in brown calf half morocco, spine gilt-lettered; with extensive corrections and revisions by Douglas (chiefly in green ink) throughout, ranging from typographical corrections to a 65-word revision on p. 313, with several marginal printer's stamps ("First Proofs," etc.) dated during July and August 1914, with note by Douglas regarding the Index on last leaf at end (the Index not yet ready); inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "These are the first proofs of Old Calabria, corrected by myself, Norman Douglas." Douglas's historical-travel work on southern Italy was first published by Secker in 1915; four other English and American editions followed through 1938.
