This manuscript page corresponds to the text on page 289, 12 lines down, through page 290, 16 lines down, in the first edition; it is a scene of dialogue between McTeague and his wife Trina in which he announces that he has just been fired. With a copy of the first edition of the book, New York, 1899. 8vo, original red cloth, white lettering and decoration, rear cover slightly marked, a few small marginal tears, red half morocco slipcase; in very good condition.
