A PAIR OF VIENNA-STYLE DARK-BLUE-GROUND TAPERING OVIFORM VASES, COVERS AND WAISTED STANDS with pine-cone finials, painted in a bright palette by W. Pfohl with continuous scenes of classical and mythological figures on broad burnished gilt bands chased with scrolls, between horizontal bands of gilt scrolls and palmettes, the waisted necks richly gilt with formal foliage, symmetrical scrolls and seeded patterns, the covers and waisted stems gilt with scrolls, the stands painted with two scenes of mythological figures in landscapes within chased gilt bands flanked by rich gilt scrolls and geometric patterns (one with repaired rim chip, very minor wear to gilding), signed, iron-red script, blue shield and Austria marks, circa 1900; and two wooden stands with carved scrolling legs the vases, covers and stands, 38½in.
