A PAIR OF MINTONS PÂTE-SUR-PÂTE CYLINDRICAL JARDINIÈRES by Louis Marc Solon, decorated in white slip on peacock-blue grounds with pairs of cherubs playing with bows and arrows standing on branches flanking shrubs, one pair firing the arrows at each other across the dense foliage among which a cherub playing the pipes is hidden, the other pair collapsing as the arrows pierce their stomachs, a musical trophy hidden among the branches, the reverses with a cherub tied to a tree, one playing an instument, the other pierced with arrows below moulded rims gilt with key-pattern, the lower bodies and spreading feet moulded and gilt with gadroons (one restored), signed L. Solon, impressed marks, circa 1890
