Rare -- Manuscript telegram, addressed "To all operators," Chicago, 15 April 1865. 1 page, oblong, 8vo, in pencil on printed form of the Illinois and Mississippi Telegraph Company, despatch announcing Lincoln's assassination and death: "Terrible news, The President is dead, President Lincoln was assasinated at theater Washigton last night died this morning at 7.22 the rebel escapes..." -- Manuscript telegram, from Adjutant General B.R. Cowen in Clevaland, to Lt. Frederick C. Grumager, Columbus, Ohio, 22 April 1865. 1 page, oblong, orders to escort the Lincoln cortege: "You will assemble your command on Friday twenty eighth...to assist in escorting the President's remains...This parade will be considered one of the annual musters provided by law..." - MOURNING RIBBONS.
