Pasteur responds to someone ("Monsieur"), I do not believe that I am authorized to send any...." The last few words are virtually illegible, perhaps he refers to a medical supply of some sort. Written in 1882, at which date Pasteur had left the prestigious Ècole des Beaux-Arts, but had not yet founded his hugely influential Institut Pasteur (1888).
