Refer to C.J.A. Jorg, op. cit., 1989, p.142, for a discussion of Cornelis Pronk's second design which was finished in 1734 and sent onto China, via Batavia, arriving in late 1737. The size of the plate makes it a rare example of this form, smaller plates and saucers being most commonly found. This pattern being less popular than 'The Parasol Lady' was hence not reproduced to the same extent; for later copies see H. Hyvonen, op. cit., no.231, and L. van Ruth, op. cit., pp. 37-38, who discusses the 19th Century adaptations of the Herend factory in Hungary
For famille rose examples with this design, cf. C.J.A. Jorg, op. cit., 1989, p.143, no.47; M. Beurdeley, op.cit., p178, cat.125; D. Howard and J.Ayers, op. cit., vol.1, p.294 and p.300, no.294, for a bowl and plate with a slightly simpler design than the original, showing only three figures; G.C. Williamson, op. cit., pl.XLVI, depicting another four-figure design
