A DOCUMENTARY ARMORIAL PUNCHBOWL painted on the exterior primarily en grisaille and gilt with a large panel enclosed by scrolling acanthus leaves containing a view of Looe Harbour, European figures in boats in front of the harbour wall with arches, in a landscape of houses, woods and hills above the inscription "To. the. worthy. Electors. of. East Looe. Health. and. Prrosperity" (sic), the other side with a coat-of-arms, crest, and the motto Aquila Non Capit Muscas, within mantling highlighted in lime green above an inscription "John Buller oe East Looe Esqr" (sic), enclosed by scrolling acanthus leaves, the panels divided by a flower spray, the interior with a more elaborate flower spray at the centre, below a gilt trellis-pattern band at the rim (repaired), circa 1750

The arms are those of John Buller. Cf. D. S. Howard, op.cit., p.654. He was the Tory Member of Parliament for East Looe from 1747 until his death on 26 July 1786
