William Page, who was a successful drawing master, attended the R.A. Schools in 1812 and 1813 and his first exhibits at the R.A. in 1816 were of North Wales. He probably first went to Greece and Turkey in 1818. This temple is on the hill of Kolonos Agoratos overlooking the Athenian Agora. It was dedicated to Hephaestus 499-444 BC. A watercolour by Page of the Temple of Jupiter Olympus, Athens was sold at Sotheby's 23 Oct., 1991 (#12,500)
