Helen, daughter of Thomas Hepburn of Hadington, married Thomas Preston, 1st Viscount Tara as his second wife. He was appointed General of the Confederate Irish Catholics in 1642 and was created Viscount Tara, co. Meath, in the peerage of Ireland, 2 July 1650
