A SET OF FOUR FINE GEORGE III SILVER ENTREE DISHES AND COVERS AND OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE HOTWATER STANDS AND LINERS
the dishes and covers with maker's mark of Paul Storr, London, 1808 the stands unmarked, early 19th century

The shaped-circular dishes with gadrooned and shell rim, the domed covers with fluted borders and detachable cushion and Earl's coronet finial, the openwork stands on four lion's paw feet and with double leaf-capped scroll handles and with detachable slightly fluted liner and cover, the dishes engraved twice with a crest beneath Viscount's coronet, the covers twice with a coat-of-arms, marked on dishes, covers and finials - the dishes 10¾in. (27.2cm.) diam.

The arms are those of Grimston quartering Forrester for James Walter, 4th Viscount Grimston and later 1st Earl of Verulam (1775-1845). He succeeded to the Viscountcy of Grimston on the death of his father in 1809. He was created Earl of Verulam in 1815. (4)
