Lot Essay

In a letter to Sir Peter Wills Bt., dated 13 January 1943, Commander How refers to this sweatmeat dish:
"We have bought the Commonwealth fruit dish about which we warned you. I hope you will be able to look in to see it soon as should you not want it I am anxious to offer it elsewhere. I do not remember having seen another Commonwealth dish of this particular type which could in anyway compare in quality, condition and size with the one we have just got."
