Tokaji 5 Puttonyos--Vintage 1956

SECTION SIX: TOKAJI AND FURMINT FROM THE DOMAINE OF DISZNOKO The Domaine of Disznókö, a 100 hectare pre-sale tasting vineyard near the village of Mad, was acquired by AXA - Millesimé in September 1992 in what was the first venture by the group outside the frontiers of France. Tokay has historically been amongst the very greatest sweet wines of the world and following a difficult period and an industy controlled by a state monopoly, it is attracting the attention (and investment) from serious winemakers such as Jean-Michel Cazes. There is no doubt that the potential, not only for the traditional sweet wines but also for good quality table wines, is enormous. The older vintages, also from the Disznókö estate, but made prior to AXA's purchase, are included to provide an opportunity to see the potential quality and longuevity of these marvellous wines. At the pre-sale tasting, clients will have the opportunity to taste the 1983 Édes Szamarodno, the 1988 Aszú 5 Puttonyos and the 1993 Furmint, all of which are included in the sale. Also, the 1992 Furmint and the 1992 and 1993 Aszú which will not be released for several years.
