SECTION NINE: CHATEAU CANTENAC-BROWN, CHATEAU CANUTET AND CHATEAU LAMARTINE Château Cantenac-Brown is one of the most imposing château of the Médoc: not in the classical, fairy-tale château style of Château Pichon-Longueville, Palmer or d'Issan, but in a most un-typical neo-Tudor style. The wine was classified as "3me cru classé" in 1855, and has a long and illustrious history. Ironically the ownership by AXA - Millesimés came about through the merger of AXA and another insurance company, Compagnie du Midi, in 1989. Well situated within the commune of Cantenac, the château has a typical encepagement of 65 Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 Merlot and 10 Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is thirty years. Château Canuet, the second wine, is the result of the selction process of the Grand Vin. Château Lamartine, vinified at the château is very good quality Bordeaux Supérieur.
